Travel to Kerala

A tour to Kerala conjures up images of serene beaches, emerald backwaters, lush greenery, coconut groves, cashew plantations, wildlife sanctuaries, and ayurvedic centers for rejuvenating and much more. You are indeed close to the mark.

Feel Kerala
Kerala offers multiple choices to its visitors. Well, the multiplicity continues in the form of religious festivals and temples, which were built centuries ago, mosques along with gables, Portuguese churches, and synagogues and different sorts of cuisines on particular occasions. It is also a state to explore for people from many walks of life such as architects, historians, artists, religious devotees, mountaineers, and newly-wed couples.

If you take a trip from Alappuzha to Cochin to Trivandrum, the capital of Kerala, each location has its own geo-morphological, ecological, floral, and faunal significance. Each location provides everything that an anxious traveler is searching for. You can move along the sea beaches, listening to the mesmerizing sound of sea waves. Also, you can go cruising along backwaters, cherishing the natural beauty of God's own country. Nowhere except Kerala, can you find such a unique state. Considering its religious architectural wonders, it has a rich cultural heritage.

Again, for eye-catching view of the backwaters, visit Thiruvallam Backwater, Alumkadavu, Chandragiri Cruises, Pathiramanal, Willingdon Island, and enjoy. The scintillating backwaters of the state promise the most enchanting holiday.

Cities of Kerala
The major cities of Kerala include: Alappuzha, Cochin, Kollam, Kozhikode, Palakkad, Thekkady and Trivandrum.

Visit Alappuzha, and in Alappuzha beach, you can see a 140-year-old pier of that stretches into the sea. You can visit Pathira Manal, where a Brahmin performed his evening ablutions and the water made way for the land that rose from below, and created the beautiful island of Pathira Manal (meaning sands of midnight).

Visit Cochin, and you will find Chinese fishing nets, which are huge cantilevered fishing nets. To show the legacy of one of the first visitors to the Malabar Coast, traders from Kublai Khan's court erected them from 1350 to 1450 A.D. Then go to the Dutch Palace where you can see the precious murals that depict sceneries from the Mahabharata and the Ramayana. The Portuguese built the palace in 1557, and gave it to Raja Veera Kerala Varma of Kochi.

Pay a visit to Kollam. Here, you can go to Mayyand where you can find Subramanya Temple at Umayanallor. In Kozhikode, you will find Pazhassiraja Museum and also an art gallery. Ancient excavated earthenware, antique bronzes, ancient murals, megalithic monuments such as umbrella stones, and models of temples are displayed in the museum, and exotic collection of paintings of Raja Ravi Varma are exhibited for the public in the gallery section.

Pay a visit to Palakkad, and you can see the old granite fort (Palakkad Fort) in the midst of Palakkad town. Hyder Ali of Mysore built it in 1766. It is now under the authority of Archaeological Society of India.

In Thekkady, there is one of the world's most exotic natural wildlife reserves, which is known as the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary. Having an area of 777 sq. km, it was declared a tiger reserve in 1978. In Trivandrum, you will see Padmanabha Swamy Temple, which is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. It was built in the architectural style of Kerala. It is now situated in the East Fort.
